In this brand new Hero’s Journey process, we use the power of Narrative therapy, with a Brainspotting MultiFocal Set Up, to move our client’s (and ourselves) into Post Traumatic Growth
The Hero’s Journey process provides meaning from the adversity the client has been through. It also reframes their addiction (or other issue) in a way that removes shame, and provides a new view of themselves and what skills and qualities they learned/earned, that they can now use moving forward in their lives, and perhaps also to share with others.
This training is devoted to an exploration of Joseph Campbell’s Monomyth; The Hero’s Journey, as it applies not only to addiction issues, but to a wide variety of issues clients bring to therapy.
For this training, you will focus on one of your own Journeys which is limited to: your addiction journey, your career journey or your health journey.
There will also be a live demonstration of The Hero’s Journey Multifocal Set-Up.
Participants will have time to practice the Hero’s Journey worksheet and Set-Up in dyads, first completing a worksheet of their own prior to Day 2 where you will practice the multifocal BSP set up in a dyad, with a group debrief to follow.
Book recommended if you are interesting learning more about Campbell’s Hero’s Journey monomyth:
“The Hero with a Thousand Faces” written by Joseph Campbell
“Since its release in 1949, The Hero with a Thousand Faces has influenced millions of readers by combining the insights of modern psychology with Joseph Campbell’s revolutionary understanding of comparative mythology. In this book, Campbell outlines the Hero’s Journey, a universal motif of adventure and transformation that runs through virtually all of the world’s mythic traditions. He also explores the Cosmogonic Cycle, the mythic pattern of world creation and destruction.
As relevant today as when it was first published, The Hero with a Thousand Faces continues to find new audiences in fields ranging from religion and anthropology to literature and film studies. The book has also profoundly influenced creative artists – including authors, songwriters, game designers, and filmmakers – and continues to inspire all those interested in the inherent human need to tell stories.”
